At the age of 37, I was diagnosed with ENT cancer. The treatments I underwent to cure this disease were very severe and left me with serious after-effects, particularly in terms of my hearing. I began to suffer simultaneously from intense tinnitus, severe deafness and crippling hyperacusis. In fact, I could hardly leave my house because the simple noises of everyday life (the sound of cutlery being placed on a table, drops of water falling in the shower, children screaming, applause, and so on) were literally hurting my ears. I’m a very sociable, festive and smiling person, but I had become a shadow of my former self…

When a friend told me about an institute capable of curing hyperacusis, I immediately got in touch by phone. Mr Bonneyrat received me by phone and for the 1st time, after a few ENT appointments in Belgium, I felt understood, heard and taken into consideration…

A few weeks later, I went to La Rochelle for a 1st hearing test with Mme Bonneyrat. I was won over by the dual therapeutic approach: auditory and emotional. It spoke to me and made sense to combine the two aspects on the road to recovery.

I have resumed all my activities today, and have gradually regained a taste for life.
